PV Slate in rebuild of a Grade II Listed building in the Cotswolds AONB

GB-Sol have worked closely with the property owners and Gransmore architects on this extension and renovation of historic barns on a Grade II Listed property in the Cotswolds.

This 200 year old cottage had fallen into complete disrepair. The rebuild had to emulate the design and character of the original, while also allowing for the technology of modern living.

PV Slates enabled a solar system to be fitted within the planning restrictions and enable the occupants to generate their own green electricity while still benefiting from the aesthetics of a beautiful listed Cotswold cottage.

There were concerns from the Local Authority Conservation Officer which were overcome by the positive features of the design and the opportunity to utilise solar energy.  The slates are inherently modern however they communicate the ethos of the project – sensitively balancing old and new.

PV Slates are solar panels that look just like light grey natural slates. For this highly sensitive project, custom ‘infill’ slates were used around the edges of the roof. These are made of the same toughened glass as the PV Slates and were made to fit the roof exactly.
